Five for Friday!

Why are short weeks always harder to get through than a regular week?

I've linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching.
Here are my 5 random things for the week.

I got to spend an extra day home with my beautiful princess. She makes my heart melt! How many days until summer?

I got to thinking how fast time goes by. I was bored and decided to go through old pictures. I found a picture of my sweet girl. it was taken this same time last year. Look how much she has changed? Where does the time go?

We started a biography report on an African American hero. The students browsed through different books to decided who they wanted to do their report on. I can't wait to get more in depth with this project. The kiddos are also VERY excited.

I introduced a new center this week. It is a wonderful packet created by The Brown Bag Teacher. My kiddos LOVED completing this center. I would definitely check this packet out for your kiddos. It is worth the $.

We're trying something new in our class. Our speech pathologist gave my class a mini lesson on Whole Body Listening. I will continue to follow through today. We will practice practice practice until we get the hang of it. Does anyone else do this? Any tips for me?

Five for Friday AND an amazing nomination!

This week had its ups and downs. For the most part, it was a great week. The kiddos soaked up all my lessons. Gotta love that!

I've linked up with Doodbugs for Five for Friday.

Here are my 5 random things for the week.

I lost two students this week. My heart hurts. My students become apart of me. I miss them so much when they leave. Our class is saddened by their absence. To help have closure I had my kiddos make each student something they could remember us by.

Science this week was a hit. It was all about volume. The kiddos couldn't get enough of figuring out an object's volume. Love it!

I saw this project on Pinterest and I had to try it. I love how it turned out!

We also had a lot of fun with fractions! This was a Valentine's Day Fraction Task Card activity. The kiddos wanted to do more. As if 20 task cards weren't enough?! I love that ask for more math! You can find this activity for free {here}.

I'm truly honored to be nominated for the Liebster Award. It made my whole week! The Liebster award is handed out to newer blogs. Liebster is a German word that means: BELOVED, CUTE, LOVELY, DEAREST, & WELCOME!
liebster4
I was nominated by Sarah. She is from the blog, Chicken Soup for the Autism Teacher's Soul. She nominated me for my post about kindness. You can read it {here}.

If you would like to instill a little more kindness into your classroom, click {here} to get my Get Your Kindness Packet and Craftivity.

I'm going to officially accept the nominations in a future post this week. I also get to nominate 5 blogs that I think deserve the award. Stay tuned!

Get Your Kindess On Linky Party

Being Kind
It is something that we should all do every minute of everyday. Seriously! JUST BE KIND!
Be kind.
My classroom had a very hard time being kind to one another earlier this week. It hurt my heart, A LOT. The bickering, the dirty looks, the snooty attitudes. I don't know why there was a sudden change, but it had to be stopped. Insert me scrambling to find kindness activities.

Insert me creating a new product that the kiddos absolutely loved.Click the picture to get your copy.

This product is full of bright, cheerful, meaningful posters and activities. This is surly a great way to get your kiddos to be kind! I printed out the kindness poem posters. We recite the poems each morning.

Included in the product is a link to one of Kid President's videos. My kiddos really connect with Kid President. We watch his video each morning to remind us of how to be kind.

I've included a fun activity to go along with his video. I've also included  SO SO cute poster! I saw an immediate change in my class after viewing the video and completing the activities.

Next up in my kindness product is an adorable whole group craftivity.

I really wanted my kiddos to let the world know how to be kind. This is just the way to do it. I asked our talented art teacher to create a beehive. She did such an amazing job! Next up, I created little bees.

Whenever an act of kindness is bestowed upon one of my kiddos, they grab a bee (seriously how cute are they?) and write it down. I then hang the bee up by the hive. Our class goal is to have 500 bees by the end of the year!

Another great way to show the world that they are being kind is to TWEET about it.

The kiddos absolutely loved creating this adorable craftivity. It is perfect for this time of year. I'm sure your kiddos will love it just as much.

Don't forget to grab my Get Your Kindness On product. Click {here}.

Now it is your turn Show me what you do in your classroom to instill kindness. Link up below!

Five for Friday!

I survived this week! There must of been something in the water, because classes all over campus were going crazy this week. Did anyone else have a crazy week?

I've linked up with this amazing linky party. I love love love Five for Friday. Here are my five random things from this week.

We took advantage of the beautiful Florida weather this week (northerners, don't kill me). I snapped this picture at the park. My sweet girl loves to be outside. I can't wait until I can spend all my time with her. It is so hard to have to be away from her during the day.

I might of gone a little overboard with shopping for my class. Yup, that is all for them. I use a classroom economy system. Students earn money in various ways. I host a classroom store once a month. The students have to pay me rent and then they can spend what they wish at the store. I'm hoping this will instill a sense of money responsibility for when they are older.

This was a gift from a parent. A very unexpected gift.I guess everyone knows that I am obsessed with owls. I love it!

I think I jinxed myself with my post on behavior management. You would swear that I knew nothing about behavior management on Monday and Tuesday It as awful. A.W.F.U.L. The kiddos were so mean to one another. It hurt my heart. I read Chalk One Up To The Teacher blog post about a Kindness Revolution and I just knew  had to do something like that. I created some kindness posters and had our SUPER talented art teacher create a beehive. The kiddos write an act of kindness that someone did for the on a bee. I then hang the bee by the hive. I'm going to be writing an in depth post about this. Stay tuned.

Winter Literacy Centers (ELA Common Core Aligned!)

My kiddos worked so hard in centers this week. I told them that they were completing centers made by me. They were SO excited to complete each task. Need a little extra to your centers? My center pack includes plurals, suffixes, and synonym activities. Your kiddos will have a blast completing each activity.

Well, there you have it. My five randoms from the week. How was your week? Leave a comment below.
